TWIRL GIRL (f, 2, Twirling Candy–Holiday Girl {SP}, by Harlan’s Holiday) graduated at second asking Sunday afternoon at Keeneland, becoming the 15th winner for her freshman sire (by Candy Ride {Arg}). The dark bay was away slowly and rallied to finish second on debut going six furlongs at Churchill Sept. 13 and was bet down to odds of 5-2 as part of a commonly owned two-horse entry in this spot. Twirl Girl settled to race off the pace in seventh in the early stages as Arch Arch Baby (Archarcharch) led through a quarter-mile in :22.73. The filly rallied on the turn and was fully extended to get up by a head in deep stretch. Arch Arch Baby held on stubbornly to complete the exacta. Holiday Girl foaled a pair of fillies by Twirling Candy in 2014 and Take Charge Indy in 2015. She was bred back to the winner’s sire this spring. Sales history: $14,500 Ylg ’14 FTKOCT.
